Public trabspot and the famous transantiago

In my opinion, one of the most unpleasant aspects of living in a big city is the pollution. A lot of people refuse to use the public transport because they found it not as efficient as driving your own car. In some aspects they are right, but I think you can`t speak of efficiency is you are paying comfort and speed with pollution. At least for me, helping to decrease the pollution level is enough reason to prefer public transport.

Was during the summer of 2007 when the now famous transantiago started to run. At that time I couldn’t experience the adventure of traveling in a crowded bus, because I wasn’t living in Santiago yet. However, wherever you where in the country you would know about the big mess going in here, at that time (and during for a while) it was everyday news. Transantiago was and still is one of the most controversial subjects of the public agenda.

From where I come from (Temuco) there is not such a thing like those big caterpillar busses, instead we got some small busses and a lot of “colectivos”. The distances there are smaller, so walking or riding a bike became good options to move from one point to another.

If I could, I would ride a bike to get to the university, but due to the circumstances(mainly the distance) I take the bus.
